The 9 O's of God
The "9 O's of God" expand on the classic 5 theological "omni-" attributes to include other characteristics of God's nature.
Below is the scripture commonly associated with each of the nine attributes:
The Traditional "Omni" Attributes
- Omnipotence (All-Powerful):
Omniscience (All-Knowing):
- Scripture: "He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name... his understanding has no limit." — Psalm 147:4–5
Omnipresence (Everywhere-Present):
- Scripture: "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there." — Psalm 139:7–8
Omnibenevolence (All-Good):
- Scripture: "The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made." — Psalm 145:9
- Omnificence (All-Creating):
- Scripture: "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." — John 1:3
- Oneness (Indivisible Unity):
- Scripture: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." — Deuteronomy 6:4
- Omega (The Eternal End):
- Scripture: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." — Revelation 22:13
- Orderly (God of Structure):
- Scripture: "But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way." — 1 Corinthians 14:40
- Offering Grace (All-Gracious):
- Scripture: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8
